The Queen of Classic Tequila Cocktails: The Margarita
There are many different varieties and recipes for Margarita and each one can vary in the type of tequila used, the proportion of ingredients and the preparation method. Some popular versions include strawberry Margarita, mango Margarita and cucumber Margarita, and some of them have become classic tequila cocktails on their own merits.
At Altos, we have created our own version of this classic tequila drink, the Altos Margarita, and you will only need:
- 2 ounces of Tequila
- 1 ounce of fresh lemon juice
- 1 ounce of orange liqueur
- Coarse salt
- Agave or sweetener of choice
- Lemon wedges
To start, cut some fresh lime wedges and squeeze their juice into a glass. Add the tequila and agave syrup and mix everything together by mashing the fruit in the glass. Then, cover the glass with ice and stir the cocktail well. Finally, decorate the glass with lemon wedges and some chopped limes.
Or you can opt to prepare the Classic Margarita, which varies slightly in its recipe:
- 60 ml / 2 parts white tequila
- 30 ml / 1 part triple sec
- 30 ml / 1 part fresh lemon juice
- Salt for decoration
To start, add all the ingredients in a shaker full of ice. Shake vigorously for about 10 seconds to mix all the flavors well. Strain the cocktail into a previously salted frosted glass to give it an extra touch of flavor. And ready!
