Understanding the difference between Paloma and Margarita cocktails

Tequila enthusiasts are often presented with a rather enjoyable dilemma: should it be the Paloma or the Margarita? Both cocktails...
Huichol art is one of the most renowned both inside and outside of Mexico. It is created by the Huichol people, who live in the states of Jalisco and Nayarit. The unifying characteristic of their work is the vibrant decorations using symbols and designs made with chaquira (small beads) to represent key aspects of their worldview. Meet San Andres Cohamiata Altos has partnered with Huichol communities to offer a special edition of Altos Huichol bottles via e-commerce. The aim is to make a positive impact on the quality of life for the Huichol community in San Andres Cohamiata, Jalisco. In collaboration with "Ascalapha," an organisation dedicated to improving the lives of these vulnerable groups, we aim to help artisans achieve a daily minimum wage nine times higher than what they usually earn from their work. ...
Altos’ mission is to craft tequila of the highest quality while caring for the planet and its people. For us, sustainability is not just about reducing waste or reusing materials. It is a way of life that demands meaningful changes in our daily routines. It’s not about perfection, but about a commitment to care and to continuously improve. Here is what Altos genuinely values: Our Planet We care about our land...
When it comes to energy at the Altos Tequila distillery, we measure everything. This approach allows us to continuously optimise and improve our sustainable energy strategies. We have introduced simple measures, such as using natural lighting in our workspaces and insulating all the piping used to transfer steam, which has significantly helped reduce energy consumption. Furthermore, in our steam generation systems, we have been upgrading the boilers to modernise the carburation methods, moving from analogue to digital systems. This provides greater precision in mixing the fuel with the air, resulting in higher efficiency and, therefore, more steam generation with less energy. Additionally, we produce fewer emissions, which offers a double benefit.
Tahona Society is a collective of spirit makers and bartenders, formed in 2009, with the aim of educating in agave spirits categories, promoting career opportunities, enhancing community networking, and encouraging life balance and health practices. After nine years of existence and seven cocktail competitions, our key challenge was to change the perception of "yet another" cocktail competition within the industry. As a result, the Tahona Society Collective Spirit Competition was launched as the first-ever competition in the industry centred around social and sustainable values....
At Altos, we compost 3,900 tonnes of organic waste per year, and 99% of all the solid waste in our distillery is recycled. In fact, the total amount of non-recycled material that we generate each month could fit inside the boot of a car. Furthermore, we believe in discovering ways to give waste a second life. We are currently collaborating with researchers to explore innovative uses for agave bagasse, including biofuels and construction materials made from organic waste.
Eco-design involves integrating sustainable practices into the design and development of products and packaging to minimise environmental impact throughout the product’s life cycle. A product’s life cycle includes its design, production, distribution, use, and disposal. Considering ways to reduce the environmental footprint at each stage is essential to protecting our planet. In 2018, Altos’ iconic bottle was redesigned to reduce its glass weight by 20%. By making the bottle slightly smaller and thinner, without affecting its tequila volume, we achieved a 20% reduction in CO2 emissions.
This is What We Do Altos has been recognised by industry publications, such as The Spirits Business, for its focus on sustainable practices and the work we do in our distillery. We compost 1,700 tonnes of waste, have reduced water consumption by 16.45%, and have achieved a 97% recycling rate for our solid waste. Altos' mission is to produce tequila of the highest quality while caring for the planet at the same time. For us, a business must always have a human element: we need to be sustainable as a brand, in our processes, and in our lives. Sustainability is not just about reducing waste or repurposing our rubbish; it is a way of life that requires both small and large, but always meaningful, changes in our day-to-day lives. ...
