Taking Care Of The Family: Tahona Society

Tahona Society is a collective of spirit makers and bartenders, formed in 2009, with the aim of educating in agave spirits categories, promoting career opportunities, enhancing community networking, and encouraging life balance and health practices.

After nine years of existence and seven cocktail competitions, our key challenge was to change the perception of “yet another” cocktail competition within the industry. As a result, the Tahona Society Collective Spirit Competition was launched as the first-ever competition in the industry centred around social and sustainable values.

Additionally, we launched the Henry Besant Scholarship in honour of our late co-founder, who truly believed in bartender education and training. This scholarship is awarded to a bartender at the start of their career. The winning beneficiary receives a monetary grant, as well as the opportunity to join the Altos team as a junior Brand Ambassador, representing our tequila around the world.

As we travel the world meeting bartenders, we are discovering more and more who share our values and wish to improve their bars. Tahona Society has become a genuine commitment to sustainability, helping us lead the way in this new concept.
