The Best Tequila for Blueberry Margarita Ice Pops

When it comes to this frozen blueberry margarita recipe, reposado tequila is the ingredient you really do not want to skip. Aged in oak barrels for a minimum of one year, it develops a noticeably richer and more complex character than its unaged counterpart, blanco tequila. That time spent in oak coaxes out deeper, more layered flavours, which is precisely why reposado tends to shine in cocktails served over ice or blended with it.

Whilst the recipe will still work with a blanco, the reposado brings something extra to these alcohol lollies, complementing the blueberry and mint beautifully. If reposado proves difficult to find, white tequila makes a perfectly reasonable substitute.

Choosing Olmeca Altos for your margarita ice pops means every frozen bite carries the genuine flavour of a proper summertime cocktail, without any of the downsides the morning after.

Cocktails That Pair Perfectly With These Ice Pops

There are plenty of cocktails worth exploring if you want to lean further into the flavours at the heart of these blueberry mint alcohol ice pops. Alongside the classics, there is real room for bolder, fruit-forward options that feel just as satisfying and seasonal.

The Prickly Pear Margarita brings together prickly pear puree, tequila, triple sec, syrup, and fresh lime juice for something sweet, tart, and brilliantly vibrant in the glass.

For a brighter citrus experience, the Blood Orange Margarita combines blood orange juice, tequila, simple syrup, and lime juice, finished with a salted rim and candied grapefruit zest for an extra flourish of character.

Altos’ Classic Margarita keeps things wonderfully straightforward, blending tequila with diced citrus and honey for a version that feels both familiar and endlessly drinkable. Whether your preference runs to vivid and fruity or clean and classic, any of these margaritas makes an ideal companion to a frozen treat like these blueberry mint alcohol ice pops.

However you like it. It’s a knockout in a Margarita or Paloma, but just as good neat if you want to taste that craftsmanship. Whatever the occasion, Altos always brings the good vibes.

What makes Altos Tequila different from other tequilas?

Altos isn’t just another tequila — it’s the real deal. Made from 100% Blue Agave grown high in Jalisco, slow-cooked, copper-distilled, and crafted by bartenders who know their stuff. The result? A tequila that’s smooth, bold, and built for mixing.

Can I use Altos in cocktails other than Margaritas?

Oh, definitely. Altos levels up everything from Palomas to Tequila Sunrises — even an Old Fashioned if you’re feeling creative. If it’s got a glass, Altos belongs in it.

What’s the difference between Plata, Reposado, and Añejo?

Plata’s fresh and vibrant, Reposado’s smooth with a touch of oak, and Añejo’s rich, deep, and full of character. Three tequilas, three moods — all pure Altos.

Is Altos Tequila made sustainably?

Yep — we’re big on doing things the right way. From recycling agave fibres to reusing water at the distillery, Altos keeps it clean and green. Great tequila, made with a conscience.
