Which Tequila Use to Make Our Blueberry Margarita Ice Pops

Reposado tequila is a must for this frozen blueberry margarita recipe. It’s a delicious twist on the classic cocktail, and it’s perfect for summer!
This tequila has been aged in oak barrels for at least a year, which gives it a somewhat stronger flavor than its younger counterpart, white tequila. The oak aging process also allows more complex flavors to develop in the drink. For this reason, tequila reposado is often the choice for cocktails served over ice or mixed with ice.

Although you don’t have to use the reposado in this recipe, I love the way it complements the blueberry ice cream. If you can’t find reposado, you can substitute white tequila.

By using olmeca altos tequila in your margarita ice pops, you’ll be able to enjoy a cool treat that tastes like your favorite summertime drink—and it won’t give you a hangover!

Cocktails to Accompany Our Margarita Ice Pops

When it comes to cocktails, we’re all about the classics. But that doesn’t mean we don’t have a flair for the exotic.

Our Prickly Pear Margarita is made with prickly pear puree, tequila, triple sec, syrup and lime juice. It’s sweet, tart and refreshing.

The Blood Orange Margarita is made with blood orange juice, tequila, simple syrup and lime juice. We top it with a salted rim and candied grapefruit zest.

Alto’s Margarita: This is a twist on the traditional margarita recipe, with a handful of diced citrus and honey. It’s what we drink every time we watch our favorite telenovela.

Why Altos Tequila?

You’ve got to try the margarita freeze pop with Altos tequila. It’s the perfect choice for the margarita flavor in this recipe, because it has a strong and distinct tequila aroma. The Altos Reposado is made with 100% blue agave, which gives it a sweet and floral aroma that combines perfectly with the lime juice and blueberries in this recipe.

Your Questions Answered Margaritas

What makes Altos Tequila different from other tequilas?

Altos isn’t your average tequila — it’s the real thing. Made from 100% Blue Agave grown in Jalisco’s highlands, slow-cooked, copper-distilled, and created by bartenders who get it. Smooth, bold, and made to mix right.

What’s the best way to drink Altos Tequila?

Any way you want. It’s a winner in a Margarita or Paloma, but it also shines straight up if you’re all about flavour. Whatever the moment, Altos always sets the tone.

Is Altos Tequila made sustainably?

Absolutely — we’re serious about sustainability. We recycle agave fibers, reuse water, and cut down on waste wherever we can. Great tequila, zero guilt.

What’s the difference between Plata, Reposado, and Añejo?

Plata’s crisp and lively, Reposado’s smooth and rounded, and Añejo’s bold, rich, and full of depth. Three styles, one unmistakable Altos spirit.

Can I use Altos in cocktails other than Margaritas?

Of course. Altos steps up in any mix — Palomas, Tequila Sunrises, even an Old Fashioned if you’re in the mood to experiment. If it pours, Altos fits.
