Which Tequila Use to Make Our Blueberry Margarita Ice Pops

Reposado tequila is a must for this frozen blueberry margarita recipe. It’s a delicious twist on the classic cocktail, and it’s perfect for summer!
This tequila has been aged in oak barrels for at least a year, which gives it a somewhat stronger flavor than its younger counterpart, white tequila. The oak aging process also allows more complex flavors to develop in the drink. For this reason, tequila reposado is often the choice for cocktails served over ice or mixed with ice.

Although you don’t have to use the reposado in this recipe, I love the way it complements the blueberry ice cream. If you can’t find reposado, you can substitute white tequila.

By using olmeca altos tequila in your margarita ice pops, you’ll be able to enjoy a cool treat that tastes like your favorite summertime drink, and it won’t give you a hangover!

Cocktails to Accompany Our Margarita Ice Pops

If you are looking for more ways to enjoy the flavors behind these Margarita Ice Pops, there are plenty of cocktails worth exploring. We love the classics, but we also make room for bolder, fruit-forward variations that feel just as refreshing.

Our Prickly Pear Margarita blends prickly pear puree with tequila, triple sec, syrup, and fresh lime juice for a cocktail that is sweet, tart, and vibrant.

The Blood Orange Margarita offers a brighter citrus profile, combining blood orange juice, tequila, simple syrup, and lime juice, then finishing with a salted rim and candied grapefruit zest for extra character.

Alto’s classic Margarita: This take on the original recipe mixes tequila with diced citrus and honey for a version that feels familiar, flavorful, and easy to love. Whether you prefer something bold and colorful or clean and timeless, these margaritas are the perfect match for a frozen treat like our blueberry mint alcoholic ice pops.

What Makes Altos the Right Tequila for This Recipe

Altos Tequila is a great choice for these margarita ice pops because it brings real character to every bite. Altos Reposado, made from 100% blue agave, has a smooth profile with sweet, lightly floral notes that pair beautifully with the fresh lime juice and blueberries in this recipe. That balance helps the pops feel bright, refreshing, and full of flavor, while still letting the tequila come through in a clean and enjoyable way. If you want a frozen treat that tastes elevated and well balanced, Altos Reposado is the bottle to reach for.

Your Questions Answered Altos Blueberry Mint: Alcoholic Ice Pops

What makes Altos Tequila different from other tequilas?

Altos isn’t your average tequila — it’s the real thing. Made from 100% Blue Agave grown in Jalisco’s highlands, slow-cooked, copper-distilled, and created by bartenders who get it. Smooth, bold, and made to mix right.

What’s the best way to drink Altos Tequila?

Any way you want. It’s a winner in a Margarita or Paloma, but it also shines straight up if you’re all about flavour. Whatever the moment, Altos always sets the tone.

Is Altos Tequila made sustainably?

Absolutely — we’re serious about sustainability. We recycle agave fibers, reuse water, and cut down on waste wherever we can. Great tequila, zero guilt.

What’s the difference between Plata, Reposado, and Añejo?

Plata’s crisp and lively, Reposado’s smooth and rounded, and Añejo’s bold, rich, and full of depth. Three styles, one unmistakable Altos spirit.

Can I use Altos in cocktails other than Margaritas?

Of course. Altos steps up in any mix — Palomas, Tequila Sunrises, even an Old Fashioned if you’re in the mood to experiment. If it pours, Altos fits.
