It is created by the Huichol people, who live in the states of Jalisco and Nayarit. The unifying characteristic of their work is the vibrant decorations using symbols and designs made with chaquira (small beads) to represent key aspects of their worldview.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><\/figure>\n<h2>Meet San Andres Cohamiata<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Altos has partnered with Huichol communities to offer a special edition of Altos Huichol bottles via e-commerce. The aim is to make a positive impact on the quality of life for the Huichol community in San Andres Cohamiata, Jalisco. In collaboration with &#8220;Ascalapha,&#8221; an organisation dedicated to improving the lives of these vulnerable groups, we aim to help artisans achieve a daily minimum wage nine times higher than what they usually earn from their work.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With the goal of creating more effective ways to realise the impact of this project, we have already raised 106,838.00 pesos through Altos charity events worldwide (if you\u2019ve enjoyed food from our Altos Tacos &amp; Wheels at bar events or festivals, you may have already contributed), with the funds going to support the Huichol communities in four key areas:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Improving water access for families<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Providing closer access to medical assistance<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ensuring proper housing<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Supplying solar panel electricity<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-9152 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/olmecaaltos.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/huichol-colors-683x1024-1-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"ALTOS HUICHOL: LIMITED EDITION\" width=\"264\" height=\"396\" \/><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So far, this project has employed 27 artisans who have created around 990 Altos mini bottles, 713 Altos Plata bottles, and have increased the artisans\u2019 income by 2.5 times per family.
