Ingredients
2 parts of Tequila Blanco
2 parts of Grapefruit Juice or a Blend of Pineapple and Orange Juice
1 part Grenadine Syrup
A slice of orange, lemon, or lime (to garnish)
Method

Fill a highball glass with ice, then add your 3 parts of tequila. Squeeze the juice of a grapefruit or pineapple and orange into the glass and pour in to fill the glass halfway, more or less 2 parts. Add grenadine. Garnish with an orange slice (or a lemon or lime) and serve! That’s all there is to it! Now get ready to sip on one of the most refreshing drinks out there.

A tequila sunset is a cocktail that combines the flavors of orange and pineapple juice with tequila. It’s usually made with lime and orange liqueur, too. The drink can be served on its own or as a part of a larger cocktail menu.

Tequila sunsets are delicious and refreshing drinks that will help you unwind after a long day, or get you ready for an evening out. The beauty of this drink is that it’s sweet, but not too sweet—and it has a hint of spice from the tequila. If you’re looking for an easy cocktail to make at home, this is the one. They’re also easy to make at home!

It quickly became popular across the US, but it wasn’t until the 1990s that bartenders started experimenting with different variations of this classic cocktail. They added red food coloring to their grenadine syrup to give it more of an orange hue, and they topped the drink off with an orange slice instead of lemon slices. The result was a drink that looked like the sun setting over the horizon—hence its name: tequila sunset!

We recommend using fresh squeezed orange juice if possible (or at least pasteurized if it’s not). That way your drink won’t get watered down by any added sugar from preservatives or artificial colors/flavors/sweeteners like some store-bought brands may contain. If you’re feeling adventurous, try adding some mint leaves into.

Are There Tips to Improve this Tequila Sunset?

To make it even more delicious, try these tips!

First, find out what kind of tequila you have on hand. If it’s good quality, you can skip the triple sec. If it’s not as good, add some extra to make up for the difference!

Second, if you’re using fresh peels or fruit slices, make sure they’re cut into small pieces so that they’ll fit inside your glass. You don’t want them to float around in there like little boats—that looks weird.

Thirdly, if you want to get fancy about it (and really impress your guests), add some cherry blossoms or mint leaves into the drink as well! This will make your drink look extra pretty when served in clear glasses.

Don’t skimp on the orange juice. It’s what makes this cocktail unique and delicious, so don’t be afraid to use a little more than you normally would.

Get fancy with your garnish! A slice of orange or lime on each glass will make your guests feel special when they get their drinks.
