Classic Margarita: The Original Recipe
1. Add all the ingredients in a shaker with ice. 2. Shake vigorously for 10 seconds. 3. Strain into any type of salt-frosted glass.
In this recipe, we’ll show you how to make the classic margarita.
The classic margarita recipe is one of the most famous drinks in the world. Why? Because it’s delicious! It’s also very easy to make at home, and only requires three ingredients: tequila, orange liqueur and lime juice.
But what makes this margarita so special? It’s all about balance. The classic margarita recipe balances the acidity of the lime juice with the sweetness of the triple sec. Add a bit more tequila if you want a stronger drink—or add more orange liqueur if you prefer something sweeter!

What Not To Do Preparing Your Original Margarita
The authentic margarita recipe is a staple of Mexican cuisine, and no wonder: it’s light, refreshing and tasty. But if you want to make the best margarita possible, you need to follow a few important guidelines.
First of all, ditch the plastic cups. Opt for glass or ceramic: you’ll get a better taste. If you serve your drinks in plastic cups, they will taste like plastic.
In addition to the traditional margarita glass, you may also use a rocks glass or an Old Fashioned glass.
Also, do not use a “sombrero” glass or martini glass as a serving vessel. We are preparing the traditional recipe and will use the original margarita glass.
Finally, do not use slushie machines for this drink. The syrup used in slushies often contains artificial flavors and colorings that will ruin the flavor of your traditional margarita recipe.
Do not use shot glasses!
Olmeca Altos Plata: An Authentic Tequila for the Traditional Recipe
When you think of Mexico, you probably think of tequila. And when you think of tequila, you probably think of margaritas. But what if we told you that the classic margarita recipe could be improved with a little help from our favorite agave tequila?
The classic margarita recipe calls for lime juice, orange liqueur (or triple sec) and kosher salt. But the key ingredient is tequila, and not just any tequila will do. To give it a greater depth of flavor and drink the best margarita possible, use our Olmeca Altos Plata. It will add a nice citrus flavor without being too sweet and give your drink that extra kick that will make it stand out from the crowd.
