If you’re looking for a delicious way to use leftover chicken from a roast, or if you’d like to make your own chicken breasts for this recipe, Mexican chicken flautas are the perfect choice.

On the other hand, these flautas are essentially rolled corn tortillas that are filled with meat and cheese and deep fried. They are usually served with guacamole, sour cream or salsa verde.

You can use any type of meat in this recipe – pork would be great too – but we love the combination of chicken and cheese. Plus, it makes them even easier to prepare.

Ingredients to Prepare the Chicken Flautas

These Mexican Flautas are one of the easiest tacos to prepare, you’ll just have to have on hand:

  • 1/2 kilo of cooked chicken breast
  • 10 corn tortillas
  • Green sauce
  • Cream
  • Cotija Cheese
  • Chopped Lettuce

The corn-based ingredients in these tortillas give them a slightly sweet flavor and texture that sets them apart from their flour counterparts. They also tend to be a bit thinner than flour tortillas, which can make them easier to work with when rolling chicken flautas.
